When I lived in LA, my cousin would house-sit for her friend who was a publicist and had a fancy ass house in Mid-City.
I would come over sometimes, partly to play with Aussie (her friend’s dog, RIP), partly bc she had a hot tub, but mostly bc her house was within doordashing distance of some of LA’s best restos.
Her friend is an Orthodox Jew, and they only eat Kosher and can never eat or cook meat and dairy together. They had two cabinets with separate sets of dishes, cookware, and utensils in their kitchen. I know for a fact her friend’s white actress wife (who converted to Judaism after they got married) would sneak off and eat Chick-Fil-A without her knowledge π³ Lots of secrets in that marriage, but I digress…
All that to say, since my sister has been on a gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free diet for over a year now, I decided to partition a shelf for her in my apartment for when she comes over.
Your girl is thoughtful as fuck ππ»ββοΈ
Actual footage of my sister ordering at a restaurant:
This mochi fruit account I’ve been following is doing a pop-up at the Japanese bakery I live above downtown, and I couldn’t be more stoked! I’ve been craving mochi-covered mangoes since I had them a few months ago in Vegas.
She’s gonna be downtown during Comic Con, but I could care less about Comic Con. I was gifted tickets once, and while we were in the main hall, they were playing this movie on the big screen, and I say out loud (but to myself), ‘What movie is this?’ And this dude beside me says loudly and full of disgust, ‘IT’S STAR WARS!’
That was 16 years ago, and I still haven’t watched a single Star Wars movie Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Partly bc my mattress was nearly a decade old, but mostly bc I got a new credit card and needed to spend $5K to get the 100K bonus points intro offer π
I just got home and was riding the elevator up to my floor. This guy and girl get in on the way up and the hot ass guy is saying how cute my dog is. I, on the other hand, have my hair in a top knot and am wearing my Nathanβs Hot Dog shirt π I was at least wearing a bra – We were just talking about going out in our ugliest clothes not expecting to see anyone and running into our exes, and sometimes my friends won’t be wearing a bra – I’m like ‘Guys, I have never left my house without a bra on!’ Even if I’m just opening my front door to get my instacart delivery, the girls are secured.
Milo was staying close to me and giving them boba eyes, so I said, βHeβs a rescue, heβs scared of everything.β The girl says, βWe have a rescue, too.β
He was at least 6β tall with a thick ass beard, and the girl was much shorter than me. I was like, ‘Stay in your lane, girl. He canβt even see you’ π
JK JK JK. The elevator stopped at my floor and I was like, ‘Have a good night, guys!’ π€ͺ
Anyway, I’m in #426 if you ever want a play date. You can bring your dog, too π
Some guy was setting off illegal fireworks at the park next to my sister’s house, and they were better than the annual fireworks show at the Olympic Training Center that we watch from her rooftop!
My pothos plant is growing out of control and hangs over the shelf next to Milo’s bed that he doesn’t sleep in, but likes to sit in while he judges people on the street below from the window.
I cut some clippings from the bottom so the plant isn’t dragging on the floor, and am propagating them in this jar of water. Am I doing it right? We’ll see in 3-4 weeks.
Speaking of overgrown bushes LOL, the bestie told me that her young teenage daughter is starting to grow hair down there π³ She’s in dance, and is worried she’s gonna have stragglers visible through her dance costumes. She’s too young for a Brazilian, so she was thinking of other options.
I bought this Bye, Bye, Bush kit from Instagram last year, but never actually tried it. It’s supposed to be like Nair for more sensitive areas. I’m old enough for Brazilians LOL, so I usually let the professionals take care of my lady bits, but thought I would finally try out the kit, so I could let the bestie know if it’s a good alternative for her daughter.
Y’all. I am smoother than Tennessee Whiskey. A Brazilian would give you longer lasting results, but it def works in a pinch and is good enough for Nationals! π€ͺ I give it a 9/10 – Painless, but still had the traumatizing smell of Nair from the 1900s π€’
A few years ago, Pammie texted me this song she thought I’d like:
It was totally my stee, and reminded me of this other Korean indie band I came across on Spotify, The Poles:
I saw that wave to earth is doing a world tour and is gonna be at The Greek in LA. I was seriously considering going up to LA to see them, but then they added a show at SDSU’s Open Air Theater! I went to the The Poles’ IG to see if they ever tour the U.S., and they had a link in their bio to @wavyseoul, the same label wave to earth is on. After some light googling, I found out that the lead singer of wave to earth is also the lead singer for The Poles! In my defense, wave to earth’s music is more jazzy and in English, while The Poles is more rock and in Korean. I thought I liked Korean indie music, but it turns out I just like the dulcet tones of Daniel Kim π
This is like the first time I heard The Postal Service and was arguing with the guy playing it in his car, ‘This is Death Cab!’ Ben Gibbard’s voice is unmistakeable. I had no idea he had a side project!
Anyway, I just invited Jess to go to their show with me bc I know it’s her vibe too, and she would probably enjoy it more than Pammie (she just likes BTS, not all things Korean LOL). I always buy my tickets in pairs, even though I don’t know who I’m going with. I only buy single John Mayer tickets bc I know for a fact I’m going by myself LOL.
Jess and I went to a Padres game alone together once, and when she picked me up in an Uber from my mom’s house (it was after the stroke and I wasn’t driving again yet), my mom was like, ‘It’s just you two???’ You get roofied once in your 20s with Jess, and nobody ever lets you forget it π
Jess confirmed she could come with, but not before sending me this song she heard on Spotify today:
How can the world keep moving on?
I will never let myself move on
Pammie called me the other day and said she was worried about traveling by herself to a foreign country for a concert (she has a work trip to the Philippines in December, and BTS has shows in Singapore during that time, so she was going to extend her trip and pop over to Singapore bc she’s crazy), so instead she decided to see them in the U.S. at their show(s) in Jersey next month! They also have shows in Boston, Chicago and Baltimore, but the Jersey dates were the only ones that didn’t overlap with her board meetings and shit. Mind you, we’re also seeing them in LA in September LOL π€ͺ
I have absolutely no desire to go to New Jersey, but partly bc I have FOMO, and mostly bc she’s staying nearby in NYC, I told her I’d join her!

I know I was just talking about how I overspend when I travel with my sister, but she’s taking care of the hotel, I’m only going to one of two shows (probably), and I bought plane tickets in coach while her ass is in first class π€ͺ This is how I save money, guys Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
