Yes, this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/us\/en\/catalog\/products\/40260519\/#\/40260519\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">area rug<\/a> is from Ikea, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayanrocks.com\/?p=20460\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Great Pizza Box Fire of 2014<\/a> destroyed my non-Ikea rug, and I needed an affordable replacement! One step forward, two steps back&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mayanrocks.com\/blog\/diymidcenturymoderncoffeetable2.jpg\" alt=\"DIY mid-century modern coffee table\" title=\"DIY mid-century modern coffee table\" height=\"326\" width=\"435\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This coffee table was built the same way I built my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayanrocks.com\/?p=20119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mid-century modern side table<\/a>, but with a few modifications. I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Minwax-61850-Water-Based-Pre-Stain-Conditioner\/dp\/B00173CF5W\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pre-stain wood conditioner<\/a> this time to prevent streaking and blotching. On a bigger job like this, you won&#8217;t be able to hide the ugly parts with succulents and a strategically placed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/listing\/182490238\/you-have-the-same-amount-of-hours-in-a?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beyonc&eacute; print<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mayanrocks.com\/blog\/prestain.jpg\" alt=\"pre-stain wood conditioner\" \/><br \/>\nYou can follow the same <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayanrocks.com\/?p=20119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">directions<\/a> I used to build the side table. Just be sure to use these new measurements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MATERIALS &#038; TOOLS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font color=\"#ff0000\">2 &ndash; 1&#8243;x12&#8243;-6&#8242; common board<\/font> ($12 each)<\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#ff0000\">1 &ndash; 1&#8243;x4&#8243;-6&#8242; common board<\/font> ($3)<\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#ff0000\">Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner<\/font> &ndash; I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Minwax-61850-Water-Based-Pre-Stain-Conditioner\/dp\/B00173CF5W\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minwax Water-Based Pre-Stain Conditioner<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Wood Stain &ndash; I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Minwax-26100-Pint-Stain-Hickory\/dp\/B001OEJUPM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minwax Gel Stain<\/a> in Hickory<\/li>\n<li>\nClear Coat &ndash; I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Minwax-23333-Polycrylic-Protective-Finishes\/dp\/B000C02AO2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minwax Polycrylic<\/a> in Clear Satin<\/li>\n<li>\n16 &ndash; 1.75&#8243; nails<\/li>\n<li>\n4 &ndash; Mid-Century modern legs &ndash; I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/hairpinlegs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">12&#8243; hairpin legs<\/a> ($61)<\/li>\n<li>\nSandpaper<\/li>\n<li>\nHammer<\/li>\n<li>\nPower drill<\/li>\n<p><\/UL><\/p>\n<p><strong>CUT LIST:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font color=\"#ff0000\">2 &#8211; 1&#8243;x12&#8243;-6&#8242; common boards &ndash; 4 pieces that are cut 36&#8243; long<\/font><br \/>\n(the top &#038; bottom boards)<\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#ff0000\">1 &#8211; 1&#8243;x4&#8243;-6&#8242; common board &ndash; 2 pieces that are cut 22.5&#8243; long<\/font><br \/>\n(the side boards)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since I already had the gel stain and clear coat left over from building the side table, it only cost me $88 to make this coffee table!
