We woke up to go to breakfast, and it looked sunny as hell outside, so I dressed accordingly (my Future Corpse shirt and leggings). Pammie was like, ‘Check the weather in case it’s cold bc we’re walking there.’ 49°?!

I threw on the Beetlejuice hoodie Christine and the kids got me from Bait bc it was crisp as fuck outside 🥶

I haven’t seen Dashboard Confessional live since they played Street Scene in SD 20+ years ago! Seeing this girl in the front row crying on the jumbotron during their set is a core memory for us that we still talk about to this day 😆 He’s got a little salt in his hair now, but Chris Carrabba still looks and sounds so great.

I saw Lord Huron at the inaugural Innings Fest in 2018 (and several times before and after that). Pammie saw their set and was like, ‘What is that? A stove?’ It was a jukebox 🤣 The first time she saw them with me, she was trying to tag them in her insta story and was like, ‘How come I can’t find them?’ And I looked over at her phone and was like, ‘Well, they’re called Lord Huron, not Lady Huron.’ 🤣

Needless to say, she left their set at the side stage early to grab us seats in the VIP section at the main stage for Twenty One Pilots. So I stayed and watched the rest of Lord Huron’s set and silently cried by myself. Just kidding (I was sobbing pretty loudly).

I haven’t seen a crowd at a festival this massive since ever. Twenty One Pilots fans are wild!

We did a shit ton of walking – to breakfast, to lunch, to the festival, in between stages at the festival, and back to the hotel after the festival. Your girl clocked 18K+ steps!

We saw a lot of people with their kids at this festival – young babies in strollers even!

Unsolicited opinion: Get a fucking sitter or don’t go at all. As someone who doesn’t have kids, who am I to judge, but I am judging you hard. It’s cold as fuck at night, it’s late, and people are smoking weed everywhere. If I can smell it, your kid can, too.

Our hotel was pet-friendly, but I’m not gonna bring my dog when I’m gone for most of the day. I left him with my dad who loves watching him and sends me pupdates:

I’ve seen Mumford & Sons a handful of times in the past 15 years, and I couldn’t get over how skinny Marcus Mumford has gotten. Pammie was like, ‘You think he’s on Ozempic?’ so I leaned over at Jess and was like, ‘Pammie thinks he’s on Ozempic’ and she was like, ‘Abe just said the same thing!!!’ We all agreed that we prefer him chubbier ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When you get the midnight munchies after the show, and you eat all the chocolate in your purse and air-fried pierogies bc that’s all you have in your fridge.

One of the only things I’ll miss about living in LA is the easy access to concerts. If an artist is on tour, they’re most def stopping in LA. And sometimes I decide hours before a show to go and just buy a ticket off stubhub.

Mary is my concert buddy up here, always down to go to shows I wanna go to, even if she’s never heard of the band – She trusts my music tastes and I’ve yet to disappoint 😜

She won tickets to see an Artists Den concert taping of my favorite band, Young the Giant, and she’s done it again with Lord Huron! The show is on a Thursday the week after I move though, and I have too much shit going on to commit. Maybe if I was still in my 20s, I’d rally, but I’m no spring chicken 👵🏻

Besides, I’ve seen Lord Huron live a handful of times before, and I’m seeing them again at Wild Horses Fest in December and Innings Fest in February 🤪

VIP tickets were nearly $1K, but it’s worth it to have a dedicated seated viewing platform, air-conditioned restrooms, and a private bar. Besides, I have hella Southwest points, so my flights were free, and I’m probably gonna sell my Sunday wristband – Blink 182’s a hometown band, but I don’t think they sound v good live 😅 so I’ll get some of that money back.

Jessie and Abe are Padres season ticket holders, so we were able to get presale to the festival! Can’t wait to cry downtown with these b’s 😭

Pammie was able to get us front row tickets! The next best thing to being in a suite 😆

My sister and her husband were on some “dinner playlist” music channel on TV, and her husband was like, “Why does this sound like a song Mayan would like?” and my sister looked up and it was Lord Huron. One time, we were at a Lord Huron show, and my sister was like, “I can’t find this band on Instagram” (she was trying to tag them in her story), and I look over at her phone and she had typed, “Lady Huron” LOL. I was like, “You know it’s ‘Lord Huron’ right?” 🤣
