Fried.
Monday, June 29, 2026

The Fried Apple Pie is back at Mcdonald’s.

(Don’t ask me how I know).

Anyone who’s ever had the healthier baked version knows it’s garbage. I’d rather order an apple pie from Popeye’s or even the peach mango pie from Jollibee LOL bc they still fry theirs.

Anyway, that’s my big back PSA of the day.

Update: The Fried Apple pie is only available for a limited time till the 4th of July to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

Renew.
Monday, June 29, 2026

I got a lease renewal reminder in my email, and I thought, WTF? My lease isn’t up for another 4 months. Apparently, they require a 60-day notice if you’re moving out, and if you don’t respond by the time your lease is up, your rent goes to a month-to-month lease at a rate of $6,274/month!

I was going to let the Padres and City decide whether I’m staying or not, but it looks like I have to make a decision before the postseason and before the park is finished. I braced myself when I logged into the resident portal to find out what my new lease rate was going to be (since that month-to-month rate was so fucking outrageous), and it’s lower than what I expected. Like, low enough to not deal with the inconvenience of moving – packing, finding a new apartment, paying a new deposit, hiring movers (it cost me $2K to move my shit from LA).

You guys, I hate moving. I lived in the same LA apartment for 13 years – I hated my first asshole landlord (yeah, I’m talking to you, Leonard!), but loved the landlord after him, Reggie, who replaced our leaky roof, fixed the elevator, removed the popcorn from my ceiling, remodeled my bathroom, and was an absolute peach to deal with. It was a nightmare when I first moved in – the hot water didn’t work for weeks and I had to shower in a vacant apartment on a different floor on the other side of the building. The elevator was broken when I moved in, and the landlord assured me it was getting fixed, but I ran into my chatty neighbor soon after I moved in, and he said the elevator had been broken for 10 months! And I lived on the top floor. I stuck it out, and eventually the building was sold to a landlord who actually cared about his tenants. Things just always work out for me, it may take 10 years, but shit always works out eventually…

So if I stay another year, maybe the park across the street will finally be done getting built, and the Padres will win the World Series 🤪

I saw this insta reel before the season started from this guy who claimed he heard a secret from his neighbor’s cousin’s friend’s uncle in the sports industry that meant good news for the Padres, but was super cryptic about it. I immediately googled if Shohei died 😆 Alas, he’s still alive and well and hitting homers. He just had another baby last week, so I googled how long he’d be on paternity leave, and he only missed one game. I’ve had cups in my room longer than that.

recharge crystals

Full moon in Gemini season, y’all ✨

Put my crystals out on my balcony to harness all the energy from the Strawberry Moon. If only my Padres flag could also harness that energy 🙏🏼

Years ago, I was looking for strawberry moon vibes on Spotify when I stumbled across this Korean indie rock band. Who knew I’d become a Koreaboo all these years later???

(via @khaotickayleee)

Mercury’s also in retrograde, so I will not be taking responsibility for anything unhinged I do during this moon cycle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I doordash and instacart pretty frequently. I always choose ‘contactless delivery’ and my instructions are very clear: The name of my apartment building (it’s literally the name of the street and cross street I live on), the temporary access code I assigned them to get into my building and use the elevator – the building has multiple entrances, all needing that code, and I list which streets those entrances are located on and which restos they’re directly across from depending on where they’re able to find parking – my apartment # and clear instructions to leave the items at my front door on my door mat.

i can explain it to you, but i can't understand it for you

I would say about half of my doordashers and instacart shoppers don’t know how to navigate my very clear instructions. I usually order my groceries from the Albertson’s that is literally across the street from my apartment. Ain’t nobody got time to feel for good fruit or lug cases of water up 4 floors! This girl had trouble finding my apartment and kept chatting with me. I’m like, ‘Google Maps the address. It’s literally across the street from where you got my groceries.’ Then she said the code wasn’t working to get in the building. I’m like, ‘Are you pressing the # key after the numbers? That’s part of the code.’ I don’t hear from her for another 15 minutes, then I get a ring notification that someone’s at my front door. She doesn’t follow my instructions to just leave the groceries on the door mat, instead she rings my doorbell and wakes up my dog who’s sleeping. It took her so long to find my damn apartment, it’s nearly 11pm. I open my Ring app and see her just standing there holding my groceries. I text her, ‘Leave the groceries on the door mat.’ I cannot, man. I tip very well, and all that I ask is you follow instructions. Needless to say, I gave her a 1-star review so she won’t be assigned to any of my future orders, but I let her keep my tip.

I got this other instacart shopper today – I literally just ordered 3 things from the Albertson’s across the street. She kept messaging me bc she couldn’t find the entrance (it’s across the street from where you just bought my groceries and right next to the entrance to the dog daycare as stated in my directions). Then she said the code wasn’t working – I feel like Gen Z doesn’t know what the pound key is and just presses the numbers even though there’s a # in the code. It’s not a fucking hashtag! She sent me like 10 messages while I was trying to feed my dog, watch the Padres get murdered by the Dodgers, and eat my dinner that the doordasher had no trouble delivering. I was v irritated, and her name just pissed me off even more – Samountha.

Speaking of people who piss me off LOL, I dated this guy once who delivered mail at the post office (who briefly became my parents’ mailman during Covid, over a decade after we were together) and I remember asking him, ‘Isn’t it hard to memorize all those routes and addresses?’ and he said, ‘If you can’t do that, maybe you shouldn’t be a mailman.’ Maybe some people shouldn’t work in food delivery if they don’t have a sense of direction or common sense ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m the kind of girl who Google Maps any destination when I’m driving, even my childhood home that my parents have lived in for nearly 40 years – not bc I don’t know how to get there, but bc of unforeseen traffic and road closures. When I was in art school, I had a full-time job, so I only took night classes. I left a book that I needed for class at my parents’ house, so I went there after work before going to class. On my way back to school, I got stuck on the 125 for 3 hours bc some girl was threatening to jump off an overpass and commit suicide. I missed my whole class, and all bc I didn’t Google Maps directions. It would’ve told me to avoid the 125 and take another route. So I just Google Maps everything now.

P.S. I doordashed Panda Express for dinner (that should tell you what kind of day I’m having), and I just opened my fortune cookie and it was empty. Am I ‘cooked’, as the kids say? 😅

I was in the hallway putting pants on fresh from the dryer to take Milo on a walk, and when I went back in my room, I found him like this:

dog on computer

I was like, ‘Are you still working, or…?’ 🤣

He probably heard my laptop pinging with emails and was wondering what that dreadful sound was! It’s just Outlook, Milo. May these emails never find you 😑

I walked him to Petco Park (closed bc of the Dodgers game tonight), and three different people asked me for directions. I’m sorry, do my sunglasses, headphones, and Michael Myers shirt not make me look unapproachable???

Chel has been wanting to get together for months, and all of our schedules finally aligned. We had dinner and drinks at her favorite hotel to staycation with her family – Town and Country Resort. Aside from living in LA the past decade, I’ve lived in SD most of my life and have never been to this hotel. I loved that we could sit outside in the patio and still get service from Monkey Bar, loved that I could bring my dog, loved that it was only a 10-minute drive from my apartment, and loved that the bar validates parking for free (otherwise $25!). It had Liberty Public Market vibes with less children. Or maybe the kids were just far away at the pool 😆

Pammie was telling us this story of a girl asking her a ridiculous question, and she fired back, ‘Does it even matter?’ with attitude, and we all imagined her throwing her arms up in the air like Michael Jackson while she said it LOL. I superimposed her LinkedIn photo on this MJ gif and will try to incorporate it into the group chat as frequently as possible 😆

izola chocolate croissant

I’m having dinner with the girls tonight, and I went to Chel’s favorite bakery and bought us all chocolate croissants.

I didn’t realize how close it was to me – 2 blocks away! Chel had mentioned that the croissants were so good, but the area is sketch as fuck – it’s actually right next to a park that I googled when I got Milo when I was looking for safe places I can walk him (we walk to Petco Park instead). The amount of unhoused people I passed by in those two blocks was staggering 😳 I usually avoid walking south of Market (at least before 9th or 10th where I turn to go to Petco), bc that’s where a lot of riff-raff congregate. I don’t mind homeless people just living their life on the streets, but these are the kind who shout profanities into the void and ask for money. I had my sunglasses and my headphones on, plus I was carrying my pepper spray, stun gun, and pocket knife – These are just things I always have on me when I walk Milo downtown 😅

Fuck, if it wasn’t the best croissant I’ve ever eaten, though 🤤

My favorite taco spot in LA is in the ghetto – My friend and I knew of this spot, bc we went to a taco festival in DTLA (we’re v serious about our tacos), and we picked the vendor with the longest line bc we figured they had the best tacos. It was so good, we went to where their food truck posts up in Boyle Heights. We heard gunshots as we exited the 5, and we were like, “This must be the place!” 😂

All that to say, your girl will risk her life for good food ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

miller high life pony beer

I don’t normally drink beer unless it’s fruity and sour or in a Michelada, but I saw these cute little Miller High Life ponies, and I had to buy them!

straight outta 1981

I grew up in the ‘hood (Paradise Hills), and I thought these only came in 40s, like Christine had at her 40th driveby birthday during Covid 🤣

Paradise Hills still ain’t the worse ‘hood I’ve lived in 💯

🍻🤎💛🤘🏼

False.
Monday, June 22, 2026

Whose fucking false eyelash is this? Be honest. Located in the east stairwell of 13th & Market downtown between the 2nd and 3rd floor.

In other news…

I walked Milo a few blocks to his grooming appointment on Park Blvd this morning. We took our usual route, and as I was rounding the corner behind my apartment building, I saw hella cop cars and like 20 cops standing outside, some with fucking shotguns 😳 I immediately turned around and walked the other direction bc I watch a lot of true crime and I’ve seen how this movie ends.

Also, I almost died yesterday.

I got home and this white Audi SUV was blocking the garage. I pull up behind him thinking he’s waiting for the garage to open, but I notice he has his hazards on. Who parks in front of a fucking garage entrance to an apartment building? So I back up and pull up next to him so he can get out of the fucking way, but he still doesn’t move. I start honking at his ass (super long honks, not two short ones that my friend from the south says is the polite way to honk LOL) and I can hear the guy screaming at me from inside his car. Are you fucking kidding me right now? You’re the one blocking the entrance/exit to a whole ass apartment building full of tenants. I just keep honking till he backs the fuck up, then I drive into the garage and flip him off. I half expected him to follow me into the garage and kill me and my dog, but alas, I lived to blog about it.

Now I’m microwaving my burrito and wondering if I need to move and/or up my Prozac dosage 😅

In unrelated news, I started my period last night.

Pupdate: I picked up Milo from the groomers and his hair is short as fuckkkk 😅

Whenever people ask what breed of dog he is, I just say IDK bc he’s a rescue, even though I did a DNA test and turns out he’s 100% that bitch the results were v unexpected.

The rescue guessed he was maltese/terrier mix and most people think he’s part westie, but he is neither of those breeds:

embark dog dna results

He has no features of a chihuahua or poodle, but with his hair cut so short, he looks like he has the body of a chihuahua 😆

I should’ve known the rescue was wrong – They also told me he was approximately a year old. He was rescued from a hoarding situation, so they didn’t know details for sure. I took him to the vet when I first got him, and they were like, ‘He has all his adult teeth – He’s at least 3-years-old!’

So he’s not any of the breeds we thought he was and he’s older, too! He’s still the goodest boi 🥹

bts festa 2026

The balloon garland was extra… but so am I ✨

My manual dexterity took a big hit after the stroke, affecting my impeccable penmanship, my ability to open jars LOL, and apparently now tying balloons and looping them through a plastic garland strip, so Pammie helped me build this beauty. We were v surprised at how good it turned out – If you know Pammie, she’s not crafty at all and usually hates doing shit like this!

bts festa 2026

One thing about me: I don’t half ass anything – I always use my full ass 🍑✌🏼

When I found out that BTS was live streaming their concert from Korea on their 13th anniversary (Festa), I knew I wanted to throw a watch party complete with a Korean spread (Korean fried chicken, japchae, Korean short ribs, tteokboki, Korean BBQ chicken, gimbap, Korean fish cakes, kimchi fried rice and BTS-related goodies – ARIH noodles, HY BTS Coffee, and BTS Oreos), and decorations *googles how to make a balloon garland*

bts dog shirt

Yes, I cricutted my dog a BTS shirt, and yes, he’s so tired of my shit 😅

bts arirang vinyl target exclusive

My record player has been on the fritz since I moved from LA, and instead of figuring out what was wrong with it, I just bought a new one. When I set it up, I was having the same problem that my old one was having, so I found an easy solution on Reddit, and was able to fix the old turntable, too 😅 I’m just gonna give the old one to Pammie instead of returning the new one bc nobody has time for that shit – I also regularly miss return windows on Amazon purchases even though I walk Milo past the UPS Store a block away every damn day. And I always order more than I need so that I can get faster shipping by spending $25+, and I always say, ‘I’ll just return the extra stuff,’ but I never return the extra stuff…

Get you a friend with a projector for the ultimate viewing experience (It’s me. I’m the friend.)

bts magazines

Christine brought us matchas and magazines – GQ and something akin to J-14 or BOP back in the day (IYKYK) 😍

Jessie brought soju, beer, and cucumber kimchi from her kimchi guy (yes, she has a kimchi guy and doesn’t buy it jarred at HMart like a normal person). She has quietly been a fan of all things Korean for years now, and is loving that Pammie and I are into BTS now. Her 23 and me results said she was 1% Korean and she has really leaned into that 1% 🤣

We try to get together at least once a month to catch up on each other’s lives, but we’ve all been so busy, so besides Christine’s kids’ birthday party last month, it’s been a few months since we’ve gotten together.

Topics of conversation:

  • who I’m (not) fucking
  • workplace drama
  • fights with husbands (to which I had nothing to contribute, ofc)
  • marriages (Christine and her husband are renewing their vows this year and I’m excited to go bc I was living in LA when they first got married and wasn’t able to attend their wedding)
  • divorces (yikes!)
  • “p*ssy on a platter”
  • JAM

Love these girls and love BTS 💜 Happy Festa! 🫰🏼

You guys, a month ago, I didn’t know any of their songs and couldn’t pick any of them out of a police lineup.

(via @stephanieorosz_)

Now I know the lyrics to their songs, their stage names AND their government names bc the audience says them in a fan chant during one of their songs 🤪

We got in line for merch at an unholy hour on Friday morning (people camped out the night before – not us LOL). They were only allowing each person to buy a maximum of one item from each category (hoodies, shirts, jerseys, etc.) We collectively spent $2K on merch, but all I personally bought was a $30 cradle for my lightstick LOL. I did buy a hoodie for our new friend, Natalie, bc she wanted two of the same one and was limited to only one. BTS fans are something else! I’ve been to countless concerts in life, and I have never met a fandom so friendly and so generous. Donna stayed in my apartment in LA last year when she went to Jin of BTS’ solo show. She got a bunch of freebies, and she gave me a sticker of Jung Kook that’s still on my fridge! I thought it was so weird that people just made freebies to exchange with other fans with their own money.

Fast forward a year and I made freebies to exchange. What can I say, your girl loves to make gift bags. This was my time to shine 😆 I only made 50, and it was hardly enough!

We got soooo many freebies and made so many new friends. And I didn’t meet one person who only went to one show (they played 4 nights in Vegas). Everyone was going to multiple shows in Vegas, weren’t from Vegas, traveled for these shows, have seen them in other cities on this tour, and are seeing them again in different cities (Chicago, Baltimore, LA). I love traveling for shows, but I’ve never seen a band multiple times on the same tour – Not since Hoobastank in my 20s, and I just followed them through SoCal 🤪 But I saw BTS twice in one weekend, and we’re planning to see them again in LA end of summer!

Vegas welcomed BTS like I’ve never seen them welcome an artist before. I was recently here for Bruno Mars, and yes they named a day and a street after him LOL, but it was nothing like this!

Spotted in the wild: Boyfriend material

I would like to issue a formal apology to my sister’s bestie, Donna Cole, who has been trying to convince us how great BTS is since the pandemic, but we weren’t hearing it. I will now dedicate my life going forward to these seven Korean guys 🫰🏼 Their joy ignites my own 💜

Money can’t buy happiness… but I don’t remember being sad in our VIP seats at back-to-back BTS concerts in Vegas¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(via @julia_banana)

When Pammie first asked me months ago if I wanted to see BTS in Vegas, I said yes with no hesitation even though I didn’t know their music. ‘I’m just going for the vibes,’ I said. Apparently, I’ll pay $1K+ for ‘vibes’. I don’t have a mortgage (though my rent costs more than my parents’ mortgage), I don’t have kids, I’m not into designer bags… I’d rather pay for experiences – VIP concert tickets, first class airfare, traveling… This is what I like to spend my hard-earned Art Director money on 🤪 Just let me.

I charge everything besides my rent and bills to my credit card bc I get miles. My domestic flights are always free bc I have so many. I have no debt – I pay my credit card off every month. The problem with traveling with my sister is that she makes wayyyy more money than I do, but I forget that when we’re traveling together, and I spend like I’m rich, too 😅 So I had to transfer money from my savings to cover my charges this month…

Anyway, BTS again in LA in September? 😅

Welp, we’re now 10 games behind the Dodgers, Miller’s not playing, and the construction across the street was pushed another month. It’s not looking good, you guys…

chicken lonnganisa

Since I’ve gone porkless, I miss a lot of things (LOL), especially Filipino dishes bc a lot of the cuisine is pork (this is also why many Filipinos suffer from heart disease, gout, and diabetes). One of the things I miss is longanisa, a Filipino pork sausage typically served at breakfast. I came across some chicken longanisa while shopping at an Asian market over the weekend, and tried it today silog style (with rice and a fried egg) and Filipino vinegar, ofc. It tasted just like the longanisa my mom never made (she doesn’t cook), but would order for me as a child 😆

I also found this at the Asian market –  Not sure what it is exactly, but Reddit says it’s a Korean delicacy. I think it’s what happens when you fuck in the ocean ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Suds & Duds.
Sunday, June 14, 2026

You guys, this is the laundromat I’d go to on the regular when I lived in LA. It was blocks from my apartment, so I could go home while my clothes were washing and I would just hang out while my clothes were in the dryer – either watching Netflix in my car or grabbing pizza next door at Valentino’s (or eating Valentino’s in my car while watching Netflix on my phone).

Some asshole actually hit me with their car while I was in my parked car Netflix and pizza-ing waiting for my clothes to dry when he was trying to park in the spot next to me. It didn’t cause any damage to my car, and he had a baby in his car, so I let it go – I’ve grown soft in my old age ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Younger me would’ve cut a mutha. I did become a more aggressive driver living in LA, though. I barely drive now that I’m back in SD since I work from home and walk everywhere downtown, but when I do drive, I’m like, ‘Act like you got somewhere to be! Fuck!!!’ and Milo’s like

I got a notif on my phone from Shi that said, ‘It’s back’.

Is it sad that I already knew she was talking about Chick-fil-A’s Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich without even opening her text?

(Don’t answer that).

You guys, Chick-fil-A’s Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich fixes things in the universe. It has also been known to nearly cause a divorce – Ask Shirley May LOL.

Guess who’s back, back again?

Friday, June 5, 2026

Christine’s husband texted me, ‘dicks tonight at midnight’ and I almost got hit by a car, you guys.

IDK if the Padres deserve my money after losing the past six games in a row (3rd in our division behind the fucking Diamondbacks?!) 😅 But I’ll still try to get some dick at midnight 😆

Update:

So I set an alarm bc I knew your girl wasn’t gonna make it to midnight 👵🏻

I logged into both the Dick’s app on my phone and the website on my laptop, bc that is how you stack the odds in your favor on Ticketmaster – I’ve been training my whole life for this.

When the clock struck midnight, the shoes disappeared from their website and app. WTF? The shoes were originally supposed to drop Friday morning, but their site glitched and that’s why they were dropping at midnight instead. It looks like their site glitched again.

Francis linked me to this kid reselling my size for $110 above face, but IDK about spending nearly $300 on shoes (especially after their Mets loss tonight) 🥴

Wednesday, June 3, 2026

I’ve been sick the past couple of days and throwing up. I’ve only eaten two slices of toast since Monday, but am feeling much better today, so I thought I would reintroduce food back into my system with a homemade acai bowl made with blueberries I picked at Temecula Berry Co 🫐

I spent most of the last two days in bed, and Milo comforted me by laying his head on my tummy 🥹
