I walked Milo to Petco Park bc I knew the Padres didn’t have a game today, but I didn’t know it’d be closed bc of the Lauryn Hill show. I need to remember to check the schedule 😅
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is one of my favorite albums, but I’ve seen Lauryn Hill a few times before. She’s notorious for being super late, yelling at her backup singers during the show, not filing her taxes LOL… The last time I saw her was at SDSU for the 20th anniversary show for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 2018. She was amazing – she was on time, got along with her band, and sang my favorite song off the album 🥹
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
And it’ll be alright
The show was so perfect, I wanted to remember her that way, so I said it’d be my last show of hers LOL.
Cha commented on @petcoparkevents‘ post, and I’ve been laughing for a million years 😂
Also, I just saw that this was a benefit show. Sidenote: Did you know that you can’t resell tickets on Stubhub for a benefit show? The first (and last) time I saw Billie Eilish was for a benefit show at The Wiltern in LA. I bought a bunch of tickets to sell bc she was gaining popularity at that time, and The Wiltern is a relatively small venue. I didn’t know until I tried to list them on Stubhub that they don’t allow ticket sales of charity shows. That’s where they draw the line? I’m still salty about the Beyoncé incident that involved Stubhub, the former Staples Arena, and a police report. Anyway, I digress. Billie Eilish was only 16 at the time, and 16-year-old artists have screaming 16-year-old fans. My ears are still ringing 8 years later. I just listen to the dulcet tones of Billie Eilish on Spotify now 👵🏻
I’m still sick – I can finally breathe through both nostrils, but I can’t stop coughing now. I tested neg for Covid, so it’s just an annoying common cold. But I def was less sick the one time I got Covid – Let me paint you a pretty picture: I’ve gone through 6 boxes of tissues, the skin around my nose is raw as fuck even though I’ve solely been using the tissues with lotion in it, I keep having coughing fits even though I’ve sucked on a whole bag of Ricola, and every time I sneeze (frequently), snot flies everywhere. Boys, try not to fall in love with me.
It’d be fine if I could just wallow in my own self-pity alone, but I picked up Milo from my parents and all he wants to do is play. He keeps bringing me his toys 🥹
Also, he removed all the eyes from his favorite toys 😅 Should I be concerned?
I walked him to Petco Park so he could burn off some energy, but I forgot there was a ballgame this afternoon. I could hear the roar of the crowd from blocks away. Were the Padres winning?
Nope. Just a fuck ton of Cubs fans in SD 🙄
I took 3 days off from work, so I’m back at work and catching up. We got a note that the CEO didn’t like one of the emails that went out for Mother’s Day.
Direct quote: ‘I think it could be a lot sexier.’
First of all, I’ve been told by Marketing to avoid using models who are showing their midriffs bc our customers are conservative, and second of all, you are 85-years-old. Pump your brakes, my guy ✋🏻
I didn’t design it, but I worked on the international job based on that email with translations for 15+ countries and 500+ assets 😵💫 The domestic email’s being redesigned, and I’ll have to redo the entire international job based on the new creative first thing tomorrow.
Also, I started my period today. As boss lādāy would say, ‘The devil is working hard today!’
Update:
My coworkers talked me off the ledge by reminding me that I’ve survived worse 😮💨
Jess is in Mexico City watching the Padres game, while I’m watching it at home eating carne asada fries that I doordashed. Same thing, verdad? 🇲🇽⚾️💛🤎
Update:
The Padres won and are 1st in our division ahead of the Dodgers now ✊🏼
I had low hopes for them in the beginning of the season with the new manager, the team for sale, losing the first couple series, Tatis wearing Skechers LOL JK – I said I would move out of downtown when my lease is up in October if the Padres didn’t make the playoffs this year.
Since things are looking up now, I’m adding a parlay – There’s this park they’ve been building across the street from my apartment since 2022. It was supposed to be done December 2025, then it got pushed to March 2026, and now it’s June 2026. So if the Padres make it to the postseason AND the park is done, I’ll stick around. There’s lots of pros and cons of living downtown… I’ll let the Padres and City decide if I stay 😜✌🏼
Nobody knows me, honey No one like you, ooh If you wanna go there I’m ready to be with you
He’s only 28. He’s only 28. He’s only 28.
Just reminding myself that he’s younger than my bestie’s first kid. Ya, she had him when we were 14-years-old LOL, but still! I’m old enough to be his mother!
Did you know that when you instacart medicine, you have to meet the shopper at your door and show your driver’s license like you’re buying alcohol??? I usually do contactless delivery when I can, but today, not only did Derek see me in all my morning glory, he also saw my wack ass new driver’s license photo 😅
Poor Milo boi is bored as fuck while I’m over here struggling to breathe through both nostrils, so I dropped him off at my parents’ for a sleepover bc he just wants to play and I’m in no mood 😑
I packed his food but forgot it at home and didn’t realize till I had already exited the freeway. He’s a v picky eater, so I turned around and drove 20 minutes back to my apartment. I’d say I had brain fog from being sick, but I’ve forgotten his food at home other times 😅
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t have too much physical contact with other people LOL. I do use the elevator in my building every day when I take Milo for a walk, and all the tenants touch the same keypad to access the elevator. I also use the keypad outside to get back in the building. And keypads on both parcel lockers almost daily from Amazon packages. It’s more likely I picked something up from there 🤢 Gonna carry hand sanitizer around like it’s 2020 now.
I’ll just be here watching the Padres game in my chonies if anyone wants to come over and be the big spoon.
Update:
Welp.
2/10 day – Would’ve been a 0/10, but the Dodgers also lost to the Giants today, so I added 2 points 😜
What, you’ve never thought of what your last meal on Death Row would be? It’s all I think about sometimes 💀
British artist, James Reynolds, did a photo series of Last Suppers – prisoners’ requests for their last meal before execution on Death Row.
Amnesty International then commissioned him to photograph a series of meals which featured the final requests of prisoners executed on Death Row, who were later proved innocent 🥺
For a while now, I’ve had this weird idea of hosting a series of macabre dinner parties which serves the last meals requested by convicts on death row. (Although I think I might need to find more twisted friends first).
Also, I’ve always wanted to have an astronaut picnic, where we can only have things they eat/drink in space – Tang, freeze-dried ice cream, beef jerky, non-perishables, shelf-stable snacks… World Market has a whole section dedicated to space snacks!
Something always brings me back to you
It never takes too long
No matter what I say or do
I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone
You hold me without touch
You keep me without chains
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love
And not feel your rain
Set me free, leave me be
I don’t wanna fall another moment into your gravity
I came across this song today and forgot how much I loved it 💔
I used to get my chocha waxed at Viva Brazil in PB (s/o to Linda who went on to regularly wax all of my friends even after I moved to LA – if you don’t share an esthetician, are you even really friends?).
When I saw this Viva Brazil candle at Bath & Body Works, I knew it would be the perfect addition to my at-home spa experience.
You guys, I haven’t dated an Asian in over 20 years.
I like beards, tall guys and assholes apparently and Asians usually can’t grow facial hair, are shorter than I am, and are too pure for this world LOL.
An Asian guy I used to date in high school loved KPOP, even back in the 1900s before it was cool LOL. I was never into it.
I only agreed to go to BTS in Vegas on Memorial Weekend for a ridiculous amount of money (the most I’ve spent on a concert ever) bc of FOMO – my sister’s bestie loves BTS and is flying in from the east coast, and Pammie’s connect at the Allegiant was able to get us premium loge tickets. A week ago, I didn’t know any of their songs and couldn’t identify any of them in a police lineup.
While we were in Vegas last weekend for Bruno Mars, BTS had a live viewing of their concert in Korea one day only at the movie theatre, so we watched it at the Cinemark inside The Orleans. I didn’t know any of the songs and couldn’t tell any of them apart, but was thoroughly impressed. So impressed, that when Pammie asked if we could watch the live viewing of their Tokyo concert at the theatre this weekend, I said yes! And then after the show, we bought tickets to their Saturday concert in Vegas – our other tickets are for the Sunday show (they have 4 shows in Vegas that week). We’re gonna surprise my sister’s bestie with the second show and she’s gonna lose her shit!
Anyway, my favorite BTS member LOL is Jung Kook. He’s as much my stee as an Asian can be:
✅ tattoos
✅ piercings
✅ morbid – one of his outfits during the show is skeleton bone gloves and a shirt with a hockey mask on it like Jason from Friday the 13th
✅ dirty – his solo songs are v explicit
It’s the way that you can ride
Think I met you in another life
So break me off another time
You wrap around me and you give me life
And that’s why night after night
I’ll be fuckin’ you right
Fair warning: This blog may devolve into a BTS fan site.
This is my life now 🫰🏼 Also, can I duolingo Korean in a month???
I’m not worried about where you are Or who you will go home to I’m just thinkin’ about you
In 2020, Pammie and I had tickets to see Harry Styles that we purchased in 2019, but then Covid hit and the venue offered to refund our tickets or hold them for a later date TBD. We weren’t sure how long the pandemic would last, so we opted for the refund.
Harry Styles went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards and played 15 (!) sold-out shows in LA. Giving up those tickets has been my #4 regret in life ever since (don’t ask me what the first three are – I’m taking those to my grave).
Harry released a new album this year, and is doing 30 (!) shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I heard tickets were ridiculously priced, so I didn’t even try to get any.
In no good state to receive Go forth, ask questions later Trap doors, you’re toying with me
Then I heard Aperture on the radio. I’d never heard it before, so I shazam’d it, and saw it was fucking Harry Styles.
Now I see your tears on account of my wants, and now it appears That I’m feeling guilty and worried, dear That you think that I might not want you here
Then today I was listening to Spotify radio and this song played after Sombr’s new song, and I was into it, so I looked what it was, and it was Harry Styles again!
Looking at his ticket prices, they seem on par with what I’ve been spending on concerts this year, if not less 🤪 Before, the most I spent on a concert was $500 to see Beyoncé at Dodger Stadium. Lately, my limit for artists I really like is $1,000. And if *NSYNC ever does a reunion tour, I will pay however much it costs!
Just texted Pammie to hit up her guy at the Allegiant if Harry Styles announces a show there after his MSG residency!
Took Milo to the groomer – Now he’s bored as fuck looking out the window and sighing every few minutes bc I actually have to work today and can’t play with him. Do I need to get him a friend? 😅
Completed our Nike Run Club Challenge with 4 days to spare 👊🏼
My sister had a work conference in Nashville, and the theme was ‘Unstoppable’. Everyone got to choose their own walk-up song before they said their speeches, and not one person used Sia’s Unstoppable.
Also, did I miss a meeting at work today bc I didn’t see it was at Central Time? Absolutely 😅
You guys, I can barely make it on time to things at PST ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wouldn’t consider myself a huge Bruno fan, but I have serious FOMO.
Pammie has a connect at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, and she’s able to get premium loge tickets directly instead of dealing with annoying Ticketmaster queues. The only caveat is that the tickets are super pricey 😅 But can you really put a price on private entrances, lavish seats, free food, free candy, free drinks, access to the club lounge, in-seat service, and private bathrooms?
I love the Allegiant – we’ve also seen Beyoncé here and are coming back for BTS next month! I just hate that the fucking Raiders have such a nice ass stadium 😅
Plus, when Donna can take time off to fly in from the east coast, Pammie can take time off from a big ass fraud investigation at work, and Bern can take time off from being a NICU nurse, you have to go, right?
And you have to make matching shirts bc you’re extra as fuck ✨
What good is beauty if your booty can’t find the beat?
Anderson Paak was my favorite part of the show. He did a DJ set before Bruno came on, and played all the jamz!
Leon Thomas also opened for Bruno. I used to watch this kid on Nickelodeon (he was on Victorious with Ariana Grande), and now he’s a Grammy-nominated recording artist!
Same. Just kidding (it happened in fifth grade).
One thing about me, I love special effects at shows: pyro, lighting, smoke, fireworks, confetti – it brings me great joy! Bruno said he spent a lot on this tour LOL, and he didn’t disappoint!
Bruno Mars: Andy, should we do the song that started it all? Anderson Paak: I think we’re contractually required to.
He was my favorite artist discovery last year and the top artist on my last Spotify Wrapped. He had a few shows in LA, but it was right after I moved, and the closest I could see him after that would be at Coachella – hard pass. I’ve been waiting for him to announce a new tour, and he waited till after Coachella weekend.
I would rather be at a show where Interpol, Balu Brigada, or King Princess was opening (SD got Tom Odell and The Hellp). Actually, I’d rather see him at Red Rocks in Colorado – Pechanga Arena AKA Sports Arena is my least favorite venue in SD, but I’m just happy he’s coming to town!
The devil in your eyes
Won’t deny the lies you’ve sold
I’m holding on too tight
While you let go
This is casual
When you lay awake at night
Do I ever cross your mind?
‘Cause you still cross mine
If anyone could’ve saved me
It would’ve been you
How come we never even dated
But I still find myself thinking of you daily?
You’re on another path
While I’m stuck in the past
You’re on another path
What’s good can’t ever last
I don’t wanna be a homewrecker
I just know I can be better, be better, be better
Luckily, I forgot to request time off a month ahead, so I had to work this morning while Pammie and Donna hit up the hotel gym. They are both sore and taking naps while I’m typing this right now. Donna was like, ‘I haven’t been to the gym at all this week.’ Pammie was like, ‘I’ve been so busy with this fraud investigation at work, I haven’t worked out in 2 weeks!’ I was like, ‘Guys. I haven’t worked out in… what year is it now?’ 😅 So they made me go to the hotel gym with them last night. I was just gonna take it easy on the elliptical, but after half an hour of that, they made me do squats, push-ups, planks, and something called ‘Bulgarian deadlifts’. So this morning, my thighs and I were happy to work on revisions on this never-ending international Mother’s Day job instead of working out!
Afterwards, we treated ourselves to Moignet, a bakery that specializes in mochi beignets and mochi-wrapped mangoes. Y’all. It was everything the internet promised it would be. The mango was perfectly ripe and juicy, and the mochi was so soft and complementary. 10/10.
Also, it was in the same strip mall as this tastefully-named Vietnamese resto, Pho Kim Long. At least I think it was a Vietnamese resto – could’ve been a massage parlor for all I know. The limo-tint on the windows kept me from peering inside 😆
I went to Grossmont today to get my brows threaded. I used to get my brows done here 20 years ago, and I haven’t found a new brow lady (or nail lady) near me downtown since I moved back to SD, so I thought I’d revisit my old stomping grounds.
I used to work at the bank across the street when it was Washington Mutual – it’s still a bank, but it’s Chase now. There was construction and scaffolding throughout the mall, but Super Brows was still there, along with Jamba Juice, Panda Express, Rubio’s and the movie theatre. Barnes and Noble was boarded up and closed, though. End of an era! I used to spend hours at this Barnes and Noble – writing papers for school, when you still needed actual books and couldn’t look up everything on the internet or use ChatGBT – ‘the 1900s’ as the kids say.
I used to treat myself to coffee and a sweet treat at the Starbucks inside the Barnes and Noble. I remember one time I was so excited to eat my pastry, I opened the bag in my then-boyfriend’s car and it was empty. My first thought: Did this fucker eat my chocolate croissant? We traced our steps back to the now-closed Starbucks and I saw my croissant on the floor of the parking lot. Turns out I was holding the bag upside down and the pastry fell out without me noticing 😅
Obviously, I haven’t changed much since that pastry incident, but this mall sure has 😮💨
I was with Pammie in Target one time, and we were walking by the auto aisle. I grabbed a Black Ice Little Trees air freshener, closed my eyes, held it up to my nose, took a big whiff and sighed a big sigh LOL. I opened my eyes and Pammie was just staring at me and was like, ‘Where did you just go???’ 🤣 This fuckboy I used to see used to have this scent in his car. It’s weird how smells and sounds can transport you to a specific time in your life.
Anyway, anyone else feel *tRiGgErEd* by this AIM sound effect? 😅
Even after they remodeled my bathroom in my LA apartment and put in a brand new tub, I didn’t take a bath in it. I’ve seen the water that comes out of the pipes after they would frequently turn the water off for repairs in the building, and I would never sit in that bathwater or drink water from the tap, even if it was filtered through a Brita.
All that to say, my new apartment came with a soaking tub. Milo’s at my parents’ house bc I’m going to Vegas later this week, so I thought it would be a good night for a soak ✌🏼
Since Pammie has gone gluten/dairy/soy-free bc of her thyroid issues, besides pizza with real cheese (apparently vegan cheese is no bueno), she also misses Taco Bell 🤣
NGL, there are days that I crave Taco Bell – not Mexican food, bc SD has the best Mexican food outside of Mexico (fight me), but specifically Taco Bell. Some days, you just need a party pack of crunchy tacos.
When I made totchos for National Tater Day, I cooked the ground beef with Siete Taco Seasoning, and the meat tasted just like Taco Bell! I love all the Siete brand products – they’re grain-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free, but full of flavor.
I instacarted all the accoutrements needed to have a proper (Taco Bell) taco bar with gluten-free options so Pammie could partake, and it was la bomba!
When I was still working in the office, we used to have monthly Employee Appreciation Days where we’d get free lunch. They had free burritos one day, and I went to the cafe all excited. The server asked me, ‘Chicken or beef?’ I was like, ‘Is the beef carne asada?’
He gave me this look and was like, ‘Girl ✋🏼 It’s a free burrito. It’s ground beef!’
Joke’s on you, I love me some Taco Bell, son! Gimme dat ground beef!
I’m not into shoes at all – I’ve worked for a shoe company for 14 years and I don’t wear the brand or utilize my discount (50% off if your kids want some light-up shoes or your parents want some memory foam insoles LOL). I wear the same pair of slip-on Vans on the regular. I only wear my boots if it’s cold or raining or the outfit calls for it LOL. I have one pair of Nike Flyknits that I only wear to work out (I got them yearsss ago, and they’re practically new since I don’t work out wear them much 😅).
All that to say, Nike is dropping new Air Max 1’s to go with the new Padres City Connect colors, and I have to have them! It makes more sense that it’s for the Mexico City Series they’re playing later this month with the Día de los Muertos theme and colors, but the Padres have been teasing a Día de los Muertos themed City Connect 2.0.
I already designed a new shirt to cricut with the new colors, so I have to get the shoes to match, right?
