One thing about me: I never eat where I can eat at home when I travel (unless it’s a Mcdonald’s overseas bc they always have special items specific to their country), and I like to eat something I could only eat at home before a trip.
I leave for NYC tomorrow, so I doordashed a California surf ‘n’ turf burrito for dinner from Lucha Libre – I eat burritos on the regular, but I haven’t eaten at this specific taco shop since we used to go here for late night munchies after partying next door at Bar Dynamite in my 20s!
Bar D is long gone and so is my wild youth. When we dropped Donna off at the airport last weekend and passed through Little Italy, I was like, ‘Christine and Jessie picked me up under this bridge one morning and they never let me forget it.’ Now I doordash burritos at 7pm on a Thursday night 👵🏼
You guys, I’ve lived in SoCal my entire life, and do not do well in less than perfect weather. My A/C is set to automatically go on if it gets above 70° in my apartment. I don’t even look at my electricity bill bc it’s on autopay. I drink my coffee iced, no matter how cold it is outside. I still sleep in my underwear when the A/C’s on full blast. I don’t sweat much, so I retain a lot of heat in my body. When I’ve used the sauna in the gym, my face is bone dry while everyone else is dripping sweat.
All that to say, I’m traveling to NYC this weekend and your girl is prepared for this heat wave:
My favorite bakery in Vegas is Pullman Bread. We picked up some sandos and onigiri to eat while we waited in the BTS merch line at an unholy hour, and loved it so much, we came back the same weekend! The food was amazing, and Mari was such a doll. She remembered us when she saw us again, and called us ‘troublemakers’ 😆
And so I made tuna mayo onigiri bc I’ve been craving it, and Donna goes back to the east coast tomorrow, so I made her some to take home. I amazon primed an onigiri mold and wrappers bc I’m extra as fuck ✨
I also made chicken tocino. It’s one of my favorite Filipino dishes, but it’s usually made with pork in the wild. I had to make it myself to make it porkless, and it was *chef’s kiss*
I also doordashed boba from Tapioca Express in case my meals weren’t Asian enough today.
Lay next to me
Our theme plays and we’re out of our minds
Singing
All of my life
We’ll never change
All of our days
Show me the way
On a wave
On a ride with you
Riding your wave
Wrapped in your calm
With your arms over my head
Today, this mochi fruit account I follow on insta was having a popup at ASA, the Japanese bakery I live above downtown. Comic Con also starts today, so I expected a crowd.
I woke up at the ass crack of dawn, took a shower, scheduled some work emails to drop while I was in line, fed my dog, took him for his morning walk, then showed up at ASA an hour before they opened.
When I lived in LA, I expected to wait in line for good food. Like, I would factor the wait time into my schedule. I don’t turn into a monster waiting in long lines, bc that’s just how it is in LA.
Welp, I’m not in LA anymore.
There was absolutely no line. Just two workers setting up the patio. I felt silly being the only one there waiting, so I went back upstairs and made my coffee.
I went back down 5 minutes before they opened, and there were maybe 10 people ahead of me. Not everyone was there for the mochi popup either, some were just there to get their everyday pastries and lattes – So I was able to get my hands on every flavor – mango, strawberry, peach and melon! I actually prefer the coffee from another Japanese shop nearby, Rikka Fika. I live above ASA Bakery, but I can count on one hand how many times I’ve gone here since I moved here last October.
I haven’t tried them yet (gonna share with Pammie and Donna later), but 85C recently added strawberry mango mochi to their lineup and I tried it yesterday 🫠 It was delicious!!! And def beats having to wait in line (albeit a short one) at a popup and paying $6 per mochi – I bought 14 @ ASA (you do the terrifying math).
Donna treated us all to floor seats at the Ed Sheeran show (@ Petco Park)
One thing about me: Your girl loves fireworks 🎆
Ed Sheeran – Perfect
We were just kids when we fell in love Not knowin’ what it was I will not give you up this time
Ed Sheeran tickets are def something I would never buy myself, but I had such a great time with friends! I had to remove my fake lashes halfway through the show, bc I was tearing up during Perfect 🥹
All the smoke alarms (3!) have been going off on and off (mostly on!) in my apartment for the past 5 hours. I asked the front desk if this is happening in the whole building bc this has happened before. She said that I’m the only one who’s brought it to her attention, so she put in a maintenance ticket. 4 hours go by and I’m just sending her videos of my alarms going off bc it’s been fucking happening for hours and I’m trying to fucking work from home and take care of my sick dog who’s scared and shaking and had two bouts of diarrhea today that I had to clean up while these stupid alarms are going off.
Then she sends me this text that maintenance went home and I have to call after hours maintenance services!
Emergency Maintenance tells me that someone will call me in the next 2 hours with an ETA for when someone can come by. Are you fucking kidding me?
Update:
Maintenance came by and put in brand new alarms and I’ve calmed the fuck down 😅
I asked what was wrong with them, and he said, ‘I’m not even gonna try and figure that out, I’m just gonna replace them with new ones! I know how annoying that sound can be.’ He lives in the building, and he said that neighbors have told him like, ‘Yo, you need to check so-and-so’s alarm, it keeps me up at night!’ and he’ll go to that person’s apartment, and they’ll be like, ‘My smoke alarm’s chirping? It doesn’t bother me.’ 😳
Y’all.
I will never not be bothered by a smoke alarm chirping.
I boiled him chicken and my sister’s husband cooked him rice. He was like, ‘Does Milo like short grain or long grain?’ 🤣 And Pammie was like, ‘Well, I prefer jasmine rice.’
I mixed his meds with his food and he ate it all up bc he was hOngry as fuck! Then I took him for a short walk to get coffee and he peed 3x and pooped a little 😅 Now he’s sleeping peacefully on the couch – He’s been stressed out the past couple days at the hospital and he’s finally resting 🥹
Milo loves to play fetch. He is constantly bringing me his toys so I can throw them while I’m working from home.
When we were playing fetch this past weekend, he slipped off the couch and hit the coffee table. I’m not sure if he hit his head or part of his body, but there was a loud thud when he hit it, and he was visibly startled. I was holding him in my lap afterwards when he did something he’s never done before – straight peed on my thigh! I was worried bc Rocky, our old family dog, lost control of his bowels and peed himself the day before he died 🥺
Pammie chatGBT’d what to look out for to see if he had a concussion or something worse. Throwing up, unusually sleepy, walking funny… It said he could’ve just peed himself bc he got startled. He didn’t throw up, he’s been walking normal, and hasn’t been sleeping more than usual. I just walked him to Petco Park, and that usually tires him out for a bit.
Actual footage of me saying goodnight to Milo every night since this past weekend:
Also, I think I found a way to be more unapproachable while walking Milo 😆
Pupdate 7/17/2026:
Yesterday started off normally – Milo ate his normal breakfast (Cesar’s) and we went on our usual walk around the neighborhood… I’m getting a new area rug, so I rolled up my old one and cleaned underneath it with Swiffer Wet bc junk removal is coming today to get my old mattress and I wanted them to haul my rug, too. We took a nap bc it was hot as fuck.
I woke up around 7p and immediately stepped in something wet. I didn’t think it was pee bc Milo never pees on the carpet in my bedroom. Milo had vomited. I went to the bathroom to wash my foot, and when I came back out, Milo had vomited twice more in the hallway. It was all liquid, but tinged pink in color. He has vomited before, but it’s always like one and done. Like, I used to feed him eggs, and one time I saw he threw up the scrambled eggs and I never fed him that again.
I put his dinner out (Cesar’s again – he’s a picky eater, but loves the filets in gravy), and he didn’t touch it. He sat in the bed by the window while i checked work emails at the dining table and I noticed he had thrown up on the window ledge. It had to be earlier bc it was his food from breakfast. As I was cleaning it up, he threw up pink liquid a few more times. I rushed him to the emergency vet and called my sister crying. She met me at the vet – Milo had thrown up in the car, and again in the waiting room. At that point, it was 10pm and they said it was going to be a 3-4 hour wait bc the vet was doing an emergency procedure on another animal, and I could go home in the meantime, but they would like to keep Milo there since he was throwing up blood. I went to my sister’s and tried to sleep. At 4am, they still hadn’t called, so I called them and they were just getting to Milo. They gave him anti-nausea medication and said he hasn’t thrown up since, but he had bloody diarrhea 🥺 They wanted to do bloodwork, x-rays, put him on an IV for 24 hours bc he’s super dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea and he’s not drinking water. I said to do everything they can, I’ll pay however much it costs.
Welp, $5K later 😅 The x-rays ruled out any blockages, so he didn’t eat any foreign objects (checked his new toys and they all still have their eyes LOL), his bloodwork was ‘unremarkable’ – slightly elevated white blood cells due to being sick and nothing else alarming, he hasn’t vomited since he got the anti-nausea meds, but he still has diarrhea – the doc said it sometimes takes a few days for his poops to become normal, but at least no more blood in his stools. He’s not eating, but the doc said the food they feed during treatment is pretty bland and a lot of animals don’t eat it. Plus, he’s already a picky eater. I’ve fed him fresh dog food since I got him, and when I tried to give him dry food like Sunday’s or Blue Buffalo, and he was like, ‘NOPE!’ But I do keep a bowl of dry food in the hallway in case he gets hungry outside of meal times, and I can hear his ass crunching on it in the middle of the night.
The doctors have been super thorough and comforting, and the staff says he’s being a good boy and is so sweet and handsome 🥹 Steven at the front desk asked about his adoption story, and I told him I got him from a rescue in LA last December, and he was like, ‘I knew he was famous!’ 😆
Please say a prayer for my sweet boi (and my wallet), and hopefully he’s well enough for me to pick him up in the morning 🤞🏼
When I lived in LA, my cousin would house-sit for her friend who was a publicist and had a fancy ass house in Mid-City.
I would come over sometimes, partly to play with Aussie (her friend’s dog, RIP), partly bc she had a hot tub, but mostly bc her house was within doordashing distance of some of LA’s best restos.
Her friend is an Orthodox Jew, and they only eat Kosher and can never eat or cook meat and dairy together. They had two cabinets with separate sets of dishes, cookware, and utensils in their kitchen. I know for a fact her friend’s white actress wife (who converted to Judaism after they got married) would sneak off and eat Chick-Fil-A without her knowledge 😳 Lots of secrets in that marriage, but I digress…
All that to say, since my sister has been on a gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free diet for over a year now, I decided to partition a shelf for her in my apartment for when she comes over.
Your girl is thoughtful as fuck 💁🏻♀️
Actual footage of my sister ordering at a restaurant:
This mochi fruit account I’ve been following is doing a pop-up at the Japanese bakery I live above downtown, and I couldn’t be more stoked! I’ve been craving mochi-covered mangoes since I had them a few months ago in Vegas.
She’s gonna be downtown during Comic Con, but I could care less about Comic Con. I was gifted tickets once, and while we were in the main hall, they were playing this movie on the big screen, and I say out loud (but to myself), ‘What movie is this?’ And this dude beside me says loudly and full of disgust, ‘IT’S STAR WARS!’
That was 16 years ago, and I still haven’t watched a single Star Wars movie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Partly bc my mattress was nearly a decade old, but mostly bc I got a new credit card and needed to spend $5K to get the 100K bonus points intro offer 😆
I just got home and was riding the elevator up to my floor. This guy and girl get in on the way up and the hot ass guy is saying how cute my dog is. I, on the other hand, have my hair in a top knot and am wearing my Nathan’s Hot Dog shirt 😅 I was at least wearing a bra – We were just talking about going out in our ugliest clothes not expecting to see anyone and running into our exes, and sometimes my friends won’t be wearing a bra – I’m like ‘Guys, I have never left my house without a bra on!’ Even if I’m just opening my front door to get my instacart delivery, the girls are secured.
Milo was staying close to me and giving them boba eyes, so I said, ‘He’s a rescue, he’s scared of everything.’ The girl says, ‘We have a rescue, too.’
He was at least 6’ tall with a thick ass beard, and the girl was much shorter than me. I was like, ‘Stay in your lane, bitch. He can’t even see you’ 😆
JK JK JK. The elevator stopped at my floor and I was like, ‘Have a good night, guys!’ 🤪
Anyway, I’m in #426 if you ever want a play date. You can bring your dog, too 😜
Some guy was setting off illegal fireworks at the park next to my sister’s house, and they were better than the annual fireworks show at the Olympic Training Center that we watch from her rooftop!
My pothos plant is growing out of control and hangs over the shelf next to Milo’s bed that he doesn’t sleep in, but likes to sit in while he judges people on the street below from the window.
I cut some clippings from the bottom so the plant isn’t dragging on the floor, and am propagating them in this jar of water. Am I doing it right? We’ll see in 3-4 weeks.
Speaking of overgrown bushes LOL, the bestie told me that her young teenage daughter is starting to grow hair down there 😳 She’s in dance, and is worried she’s gonna have stragglers visible through her dance costumes. She’s too young for a Brazilian, so she was thinking of other options.
I bought this Bye, Bye, Bush kit from Instagram last year, but never actually tried it. It’s supposed to be like Nair for more sensitive areas. I’m old enough for Brazilians LOL, so I usually let the professionals take care of my lady bits, but thought I would finally try out the kit, so I could let the bestie know if it’s a good alternative for her daughter.
Y’all. I am smoother than Tennessee Whiskey. A Brazilian would give you longer lasting results, but it def works in a pinch and is good enough for Nationals! 🤪 I give it a 9/10 – Painless, but still had the traumatizing smell of Nair from the 1900s 🤢
A few years ago, Pammie texted me this song she thought I’d like:
It was totally my stee, and reminded me of this other Korean indie band I came across on Spotify, The Poles:
I saw that wave to earth is doing a world tour and is gonna be at The Greek in LA. I was seriously considering going up to LA to see them, but then they added a show at SDSU’s Open Air Theater! I went to the The Poles’ IG to see if they ever tour the U.S., and they had a link in their bio to @wavyseoul, the same label wave to earth is on. After some light googling, I found out that the lead singer of wave to earth is also the lead singer for The Poles! In my defense, wave to earth’s music is more jazzy and in English, while The Poles is more rock and in Korean. I thought I liked Korean indie music, but it turns out I just like the dulcet tones of Daniel Kim 😆
This is like the first time I heard The Postal Service and was arguing with the guy playing it in his car, ‘This is Death Cab!’ Ben Gibbard’s voice is unmistakeable. I had no idea he had a side project!
Anyway, I just invited Jess to go to their show with me bc I know it’s her vibe too, and she would probably enjoy it more than Pammie (she just likes BTS, not all things Korean LOL). I always buy my tickets in pairs, even though I don’t know who I’m going with. I only buy single John Mayer tickets bc I know for a fact I’m going by myself LOL.
Jess and I went to a Padres game alone together once, and when she picked me up in an Uber from my mom’s house (it was after the stroke and I wasn’t driving again yet), my mom was like, ‘It’s just you two???’ You get roofied once in your 20s with Jess, and nobody ever lets you forget it 😅
Jess confirmed she could come with, but not before sending me this song she heard on Spotify today:
How can the world keep moving on?
I will never let myself move on
So now I’m crying in da clurb even though the Padres are beating LA right now 😩
Pammie called me the other day and said she was worried about traveling by herself to a foreign country for a concert (she has a work trip to the Philippines in December, and BTS has shows in Singapore during that time, so she was going to extend her trip and pop over to Singapore bc she’s crazy), so instead she decided to see them in the U.S. at their show(s) in Jersey next month! They also have shows in Boston, Chicago and Baltimore, but the Jersey dates were the only ones that didn’t overlap with her board meetings and shit. Mind you, we’re also seeing them in LA in September LOL 🤪
I have absolutely no desire to go to New Jersey, but partly bc I have FOMO, and mostly bc she’s staying nearby in NYC, I told her I’d join her!
PTO approved ✔️
Flights booked ✔️
BTS suite ticket purchased ✔️ NYC eats pinterest board created ✔️
I know I was just talking about how I overspend when I travel with my sister, but she’s taking care of the hotel, I’m only going to one of two shows (probably), and I bought plane tickets in coach while her ass is in first class 🤪 This is how I save money, guys ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
