My obsession with Love Is Blind was short-lived, bc these people were so cringe to watch! Shi recapped the reunion show for me, and all my predictions came true – the one couple who got married got divorced months later (she was WAY out of his league!), and the other couples aren’t together anymore. I questioned why they would make it all the way to the altar in a wedding dress with all their friends and family there if they already knew they weren’t gonna go through with it, and Shi said that they do it for more screen-time and they get paid more for more episodes. Bc the people who didn’t find love in the pods weren’t in the last half of the episodes. This is exactly why I hate reality TV. She said I should watch the first season, when people were still in it for the love and not for the screen-time. Like this guy who she thinks is my type, who found love on the first season of Love Is Blind, and is still married with kids to the same woman after 10 seasons. I’m a masochist, so I’ll probably watch it 🤪
Brittany, babe, this is not the flex you think it is. This is the bare 👏🏼 minimum 👏🏼
This is like when I was doing laundry, and my sister was all, ‘Where are the clothes that were in the washer?’ And I opened the dryer door bc I already put the clothes in the dryer, and was like, ‘Ta-da!’ And she was like, ‘That’s nothing to ‘ta-da’ about’ 😅
Sidenote: We were watching the 76ers/Celtics game on TV last weekend, and I saw the Celtics’ stadium was called ‘TD Garden’. I was like, ‘What does ‘TD’ stand for? ‘Ta-Da?’ We were dying bc I brought up the laundry incident. I can laugh about it now 😆
When people have the audacity to ask me why I’m still not married (IDK why people think it’s okay to ask other people this – I don’t ask you why you’re still married to your asshole husband), I’ll just respond with, ‘Have you seen season 10 of Love Is Blind?’
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again till it clocks to you LOL – The dating pool has pee in it 🫠 And I’d rather be alone than swallow pee ✌🏼
I thought the flight was nearly 2 hours bc of our arrival time, but I forgot Phoenix doesn’t observe Daylight Savings, so we were up and back on the ground within 40 minutes. It was like flying to Vegas – I barely got through one ep of Love Is Blind and we didn’t get beverage service 😅 Luckily, the new terminal at SD airport has a Better Buzz, and I got an iced coffee before our flight. You guys, you will never catch me raw dogging a flight, no matter how short it is.
The Canopy by Hilton Hotel in downtown Tempe is totally my stee – concrete floors, mid-century modern furniture, allows dogs… very happy with my stay here and will def be back!
Our server was super attentive and the music was even better – Tame Impala, Muse, Radiohead – Not even their hits, but obscure tracks. Like, if you want to get in my pants, just say so 😆 Even Pammie was like, ‘Is this your playlist?’
We were craving dessert after, so Pammie’s gluten/dairy-free ass took us to this vegan bakery in Scottsdale.
I made her take me to Crumbl after, so I could get some normal dessert 🍪
I burned off an eighth of that gigantic s’mores cookie by taking a very short hike up this sandstone formation in Papago Park. Hundreds of people had the same idea, but the view was spectacular.
Are desert sunsets better than ocean sunsets??? 🏜️ (@ Hole in the Rock)
deftones – Hole in the Earth
Can you explain to me how
You’re so evil, how?
It’s too late for me now
There’s a hole in the earth, I’m out
Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page
You desired my attention
But denied my affections, my affections
So tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart?
Mumford & Sons – I Will Wait
Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow
Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
With the exception of cooking competitions on Food Network, I don’t watch reality TV. It feels too scripted, too fake, with people put in impossible situations that they wouldn’t otherwise be in if it wasn’t for the show.
That being said, I got my nails done yesterday. I had a regular nail girl in LA (S/O Cindy at Chloe Nails!), and I haven’t found a good one down here in SD. I don’t get anything fancy, I always just do black gel on my short nails so my man hands look less manly 😆 Simple, right?
I went to this salon in Little Italy yesterday that (surprisingly) had good reviews. There was plenty of metered street parking, and luckily, the permanent handicap placard I got from having the stroke allows me to park in metered street spaces for free – Literally one of the only perks of having a stroke, 0/10 do not recommend otherwise. When I got there, the door was locked and the lights were on, but I didn’t see anyone inside. There was a ring camera outside, so I buzzed it, and this Russian girl lets me in. She leads me to the back where I am the only customer, and proceeds to do my nails for nearly 3 hours! I have never had my nails done by someone who wasn’t Asian, nor has it ever taken that long to get a simple one-color gel manicure, or cost that much without upsells or extras ($100!). She would literally paint one nail at a time and have me cure a single digit under the UV lamp. By the time she was done, it was nearly 7pm, and she had to unlock the door and pull up the gate to let me out. They aren’t in a shady area, so I’m not sure why they have all the security measures. Perhaps it’s bc she’s a young girl working by herself with a single customer on a Monday night!
All that to say, in the 3 hours I was there, the TV was on and playing a Netflix reality show I’d never seen before. I asked the nail tech if she knew what the show was, and she said in her heavy Russian accent, ‘No, I don’t have internet at home.’ 😳 An hour into the show, I realize I’m watching Love Is Blind. You guys. After 3 hours of watching the show, I am invested.
The show claims to be an experiment that tests whether love is blind, and if people can fall in love based on personality, rather than appearance. Contestants talk to each other in private pods for 10 days, and can only see each other after they’ve gotten engaged (!) in the pods. After that period, they spend time together, including with friends and family, and decide whether to get married.
I’m 6 episodes deep into season 10, and I would be genuinely surprised as fuck if any of these couples actually get married.
The one Asian contestant is paired up with a guy who looks very similar to this fuckboy I used to mess around with from Hollywood. And his one complaint about her is how disorganized she is 😳 I’ve seen this movie before, and I know how it ends – I suggest you run, girl.
Anyway, unlike the nail tech, I do have the internet at home, so I can just watch Love Is Blind there! Any recs for nail salons in SD would be appreciated 💅🏻
