Our hotel was walking distance (literally two blocks away!) from the venue. When we took the elevator down, we were with a bunch of bros who were wearing Tame Impala merch and on their way to the show, too. They asked where we were from and said they were from SoCal, too. They asked if we pregamed before the show, and I was thinking, ‘If by ‘pregame’ you mean worked an 8-hour shift and crushed some cinnabitz then yes, I pregamed.’

It was Monday night, and I had to wake up before the sun to catch my flight home in the morning, so I wasn’t trying to get crazy. They drove there and have been in Phoenix since the weekend. Oh, to be young again. I once drove to Phoenix from LA and back and it was the most boring 14 hours of my life. I would never drive 7 hours when I can fly in 45 minutes. I only did it that one time bc the person I was going with couldn’t afford a flight. Sure, you save some money, but at what cost??? I get it if you have kids with you, but I have no such burdens 😅
Anyway, so I was already irritated before the show started. I didn’t take PTO bc I had originally booked a later flight, but I changed it in case there were delays. So I did some work ahead the Saturday before so I could turn it in Monday. It was for a campaign starting Tuesday, and they kept having edits, so I worked all the way up until 6pm Monday evening.

I bought our tickets off Stubhub a month ago. The delivery on the tickets was supposed to be hours before the show, but I never received them. Stubhub offered me ‘comparable’ seats which were in a side section instead of facing the stage like my original tickets… which I guess would’ve been fine, except the girls seated behind us talked throughout the entire show, the girl on the right of me kept screaming, and this fat bitch in front of me kept raising her seltzer and blocking our view, and kept raising her other hand to take selfies with her damn flashlight on on her cell phone, wearing sunglasses and making duck faces. She really thought she was so cute. And I never call anyone a ‘fat bitch,’ but she really was fat and a bitch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Her gigantic saggy boobs and back fat were spilling out of her halter top and she wasn’t wearing a bra. I’ve been to several Tame Impala shows from LA to NYC, and the lasers and setlist are always a 10/10, but this was def my least favorite show of theirs, experience-wise.

I actually really liked this venue (indoors, air-conditioned, walking distance to lots of hotels, a Wetzel’s Pretzels inside LOL). I would def come back for another show, perhaps when it’s not 100° out and I’m not on my period. And maybe in a suite so I don’t have to deal with the gen pop ruining my concert experience 😅
