I just realized that my Pendleton Packable Blanket that I got from Costco years ago matches the Serape Summer Dog Collar I recently got for Milo. I like what I like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bought him this bed before I rescued him, and he has never used it to sleep once. He’d rather sleep on my bed snuggled up against his mama.

Because he’s such a traumatized velcro dog, he always has to be near me. I usually work from home at my dining table on my laptop, and you can always find him nearby, either snoozing behind me on the couch or playing with his toys on the floor. Lately, I’ve been noticing him looking out the window and wondering what’s going on outside (lots of construction happening across the street – they’re building the largest park downtown – and people walking down G). I moved his bed underneath the window and he’s finally using it! If I would’ve known he was such a chismosa, I would’ve put his bed there a long time ago 😆

Milo wondering what in the pickleball is going on (@ Petco Park)

Update: Found Gallagher Square’s schedule, and apparently these pickleball courts are open to the public. I won’t be using the pickleball courts LOL, but I will be using this schedule. I’ve walked Milo all the way to Petco Park to have the gates be closed sometimes. ‘If only there was a schedule posted somewhere,’ I thought 😅

One of my ex’s (who’s now married to Shi’s friend from high school) tore his ACL playing pickleball 👴🏻 We don’t need to run into him on our daily walks 😅

I also stop by Starbucks for an iced coffee. There were a couple other dogs inside today whose owners all ordered them pup cups. ‘Pup cup for Kevin,’ said the barista while looking straight at me. A lady picked up the pup cup, so Kevin was obvi the dog. I felt they were judging me for ordering myself a sweet treat and nothing for my dog. You guys, I ordered him his very first (and last) pup cup from this very Starbucks last week. He took one lick and didn’t care for it. I also tried to break him off a piece of my lemon & blueberry cookie, and he just sniffed at it and left it on the grass. He doesn’t like any sweets! Like, are you not my son? 😅

Anyway, while I was at Starbucks, Jeff Buckley’s ‘Last Goodbye’ played over the speakers and I was transported back to college. I had this art instructor (who I had a major crush on) and this was his favorite song. I googled him when I got home and found his IG – he’s a professor in Nor Cal now, is (twice!) divorced, has a few kids and a dog who’s also named Milo. He was always kind of an asshole, so I’m not surprised he’s been divorced a couple times, but I think we’ve established I like assholes 😅

Milo and I both got vaccinations this weekend 😆

I took him to the vet yesterday, and they took him in the backroom to give him his vaccines. I heard a dog constantly barking back there and wasn’t sure if it was him bc I’ve never heard him bark before (he has only yelped when I’ve accidentally stepped on him 😅). The tech came back with him and said he did great. The dog that was barking wasn’t him and was still barking when she brought him back! She was a literal bitch named Ruby 🤪

I also got my flu vaccine and covid booster today (better late than never!). I’ve never had any adverse reactions to vaccines or drugs of any kind, and Milo seems the same. He remains the goodest boi 🥹

I always put hella olives on my pizza, and I always google if dogs can eat something first before giving Milo scraps.

‘High sodium’? ‘High fat content?’ Should I be eating olives??? 😅

There’s this dog who lives next to my sister’s house who I always used to greet when I stayed at her house after the stroke. IDK her real name, but I’d call her ‘Lucille’ (I have names for all the neighborhood dogs). One time, Christine dropped me off, and I stopped to say hi to Lucille before going into the house, and Christine was like, ‘Who are you talking to?’ LOL Lucille, duh 💁🏻‍♀️ I have never once heard her bark or whine, but today, I introduced her to Milo, and heard her growl for the first time ever.

I was today-years-old when I found out that Petco Park is open to the public when they don’t have events or baseball games. There’s security guards roaming the property to keep out the riffraff, and the stadium is only a 10-minute walk from my apartment, so I’ll be walking Milo here in the offseason ⚾️ (@ Gallagher Square)

The only reason I’m not in last place is bc Mel hasn’t started yet 😅 I walked Milo 3x today, but I guess I need to take longer walks. I just walk him around my block bc the closest park is ‘unsafe’ and littered with ‘drug paraphernalia’ 😅 At night time, I walk him in our gated subgarage bc the East Village is generally unsafe when the sun goes down. Do I need to move to the ‘burbs now that I’m a dog mom???

On a positive note, 3 people called Milo ‘cute’ on our walks today, he did his business outside like a good boi, and I finally found dog food this picky eater likes – JustFoodForDogs Turkey & Whole Wheat Macaroni. Chicken makes him itch like crazy, he didn’t care for the Blue Buffalo Salmon & Brown Rice dog food, he won’t eat the freshpet Beef & Egg dog food, he loves when I make him real steak and eggs, but I can’t be making him that shit for breakfast every day while your girl eats fucking oatmeal! He doesn’t like apples, bananas, blueberries, carrots, celery, cucumbers, or peanut butter 😅 So I’m glad I finally found dog food he will eat.

Milo has been rubbing his face, scratching his ears, and licking his paws, so I think he might be allergic to chicken. I brought it up to the vet, and she said that most dog allergies are to protein, so changing up his food might help. The more exotic the protein, the less chance he’ll be allergic to it. She suggested trying lamb, and I nodded, but in my head I was thinking, ‘I’ve never even had lamb. I don’t eat baby animals and neither will my dog’ LOL. So I’ve just been feeding him beef products, and he seems to be doing better.

I have hella chicken dog food if anyone wants it for their pupper 🐔

I also bought him some allergy chews, but he doesn’t like to eat them by itself, so I’ve been hiding them in his food. Add it to the list of food he doesn’t like: apples, blueberries, carrots, celery, and cucumbers 😅

I thought I could hide them in homemade dog biscuits instead, so I baked some today, and this picky boi loved it! Yes, I’ve made dog biscuits before, and yes, I already had a bone cookie cutter 🤪

I love this coffee shop. Blocks from my apartment. Dog-friendly. Japanese. Minimalist decor. No wi-fi. Small batches of delicious pastries. Barista complimented my Future Corpse shirt today ⚰️🖤

He’s so good on his leash – He doesn’t pull, doesn’t react to other dogs, doesn’t bark, always waits to poop outside, knows where he lives (he always stops when we get to my building entrance, and I always have to tell him we’re not done walking yet LOL and when we get out of the elevator, he knows the way to my apartment). He really is the goodest boi despite his abandonment issues 🥹

Today was my first day back to work after being on holiday break the past couple of weeks. I work from home, so I just work on my laptop on the dining table, but this stage 5 clinger always has to have eyes on me, so he slept behind me on the couch while I worked, waking up periodically to make sure I was still there 😅

Any more tips on getting needy dogs to be less needy are appreciated! He needs to be able to be ok being left with other people so mama can still go to concerts and travel 😅

The first time I went to NYC (20 years ago!), I went to Supreme to get my hypebeast friends souvies. I saw a mini silver Nike Dunk on a ball chain necklace and was like, ‘How much is this?’ And the guy was like, ‘Two-Fifty.’ And I was like, ‘$2.50??? I’ll take two!’ And he was like, ‘Nah, two hundred and fifty.’ So I was like, ‘I’ll take none then’ 😅

It’s been raining nonstop, and Milo doesn’t want to go out in the rain and is skeptical of the fake grass pee pad I have on the balcony 😅 This city boi only likes to do his business on concrete 💁🏻‍♂️

He has been getting up at 4am every morning since I got him last weekend, but he slept until 9am today 🎉

He loves his new toys from Auntie Christine. This nugget is already such a spoiled boi 🥰

We took him to the vet for a wellness check and he did so well. He was a little scared and hid his face in my armpit when the doc was checking his breathing with the stethoscope, but was a good boi overall. The rescue told me he was taken from a hoarding situation, so they weren’t sure how old he was, but said his approximate age was 1. The vet said he’s got all his adult teeth and he is most def not 1 LOL. He’s at least 3, but at most 5. 

Milo’s been doing so well at home! He waits till I take him on a walk to go to the bathroom. He’s quiet as fuck, and I’ve only heard him bark twice – both times when I accidentally stepped on him 😅 He’s a stage 5 clinger, though, and has severe separation anxiety. He follows me everywhere, even if I just get up to turn off the light. He doesn’t let anyone but me take him out for walks – My sister tried to take him while I waited in the garage for my aunt to pick something up, and he kept looking back at me while they were walking away, then he got off the leash and ran back to me! Luckily we were in my sister’s community and not a main road. IDK how to fix his abandonment issues when I can’t even fix my own 😅

It’s a superstition that eating 12 grapes under the table on New Year’s Eve will bring you the love of your life (at least according to Bretman Rock LOL. Christine also told me that it’s Filipino superstition that if I go to bed with my hair still wet from taking a shower, I’ll go blind LMAO, so IDK what to believe). Anyway, last New Year’s Eve, I ate 12 grapes under the table. And months went by. And I waited. And I waited. And the love of my life never came. And just as the year was about to come to an end, I received a text from this animal rescue in LA that my application was chosen. I have applied for several dogs there since I lived in LA, and I have never once been picked – competition is stiff up there (in all aspects of life!). 13th times a charm 😆

This pupper was rescued from a hoarding situation and perfect in every way – estimated only a year old (more potential years to share), mellow-tempered, and already potty trained. He was being fostered in West Hollywood, so I went up there to meet him, and the rest is history.

I miss the LA sunsets, but I def don’t miss the LA traffic – It’s 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Why are we bumper to bumper???

He was so anxious the entire 2+ hour car ride home and didn’t sleep a wink. I got him this $200 orthopedic dog bed, and he just jumped right on my own bed when he got home and finally went to sleep. He knows he’s safe with me now 🥹
