Pammie treated me out to breakfast this morning (@ Morning Glory)
They don’t accept reservations, and the line is already out the door before they open at 8am, but this is my favorite resto to go to if I’m up at the ass crack of dawn. The Little Italy Farmers’ Market was also happening in the same plaza this morning, so it was busier than ever.
Yesterday at work, I received my Christmas bonus, had my annual review where they gave me the maximum merit increase + another bonus, and I got an unexpected promotion to art director. With the company selling to a private equity giant earlier this year, we’ve all been worried about layoffs, but the changes could not be better. I get to continue working from home, I got to move back home to SD and keep making LA money, I got a promotion, and now I make more than triple what I was making at my last job in SD…
I didn’t feel like celebrating bc I got some terrible news about the bestie’s cancer diagnosis yesterday, but Pammie thinks it’s important to celebrate my wins.
The bestie was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and it’s been a rough year for her through chemo, radiation, and now immunotherapy. She was starting to feel better and see some light at the end of the tunnel with her treatments ending in a few months. She recently noticed that her boob with the breast cancer has been leaking. She said she doesn’t notice it when it’s actively leaking, but she’s seen the crust after it’s dried like when you’re lactating. I’ve never breast-fed, so I’ll just take her word for it 😅 Her oncologist scheduled a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound yesterday to see what they’re dealing with. They found a mass, and she has another biopsy scheduled for NYE to determine the next course of action… What an end to a fucking year she’s had 😔
Also, I received compliments on the shirt I wore today at the resto. IDK why I’m single when I have such a fantastic rack cool T-shirt collection ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
