records

I was raised on the music of the 60s and 70s, not bc I was born back then (I’m an 80s baby – I’m old, but not that old!), but bc it’s the music my dad loves – The Beatles, Eagles, James Taylor, The Zombies, Simon & Garfunkel… He would always blast his records and play along with his guitar. With the invention of streaming platforms, he listens to remastered versions of the classics on Spotify now, and let me have all his old records. Music just hits different on vinyl 🥹

My parents hosted our family Thanksgiving last year, and my cousin was like, ‘Where’s your dad’s James Taylor album?!’ It was always displayed front and center next to his record player on the TV console, and was such a core memory from when we were kids. Now I have it displayed next to my record player 🥹

I made a playlist of all the old songs we listen to while we play mahjong. It’s titled ‘yoohoo mahjong’ bc I have a saved voicemail of my dad calling me to play mahjong and all he says is, ‘Yoohoo… Mahjong. We’re waiting.’ LOL

paul simon 2026 tour

Anyway, James Taylor and Paul Simon are both individually touring this year, and they’re both stopping near my apartment at my favoritest venue in SD, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Yoohoo, who’s coming with???
